Frequently Asked Questions

1.

Do I need to bring a partner to class?

No. We regularly rotate partners in our exercises and have assistant instructors available to facilitate your learning. As long as you don't mind dancing with your classmates, our assistants and our teachers, bringing your own partner is not required.

2.

Can I start at a higher level?

If you are not a beginner or have not trained with Eric before, we strongly recommend that you book a 30-minute assessment to determine appropriate placement. The cost for assessment is $25.

3.

How many students are in a class?

Numbers will vary from class to class. Nevertheless, we set an enrollment limit of 24 students per course to ensure a classroom environment conducive to learning.

4.

When do the next courses begin?

We offer a new term of classes every couple of months. Please visit our Schedule link for our current course schedule.

5.

How many lessons are in each course?

Each course includes 8 hours of instruction delivered over 6 lessons. Each lesson is 1 hour and 20 minutes in length.

6.

Where are the courses held?

All of our courses are currently held at the studios of the Canadian Dance Company. Please visit our Location link for directions and a map.

7.

How much does it cost?

The enrollment fee for our courses is $110 per student per term. Our private and semi-private rates vary depending on the number of students. Please see our Pricing Schedule for further details.

8.

Do you teach any other types of dances?

Although the core of our curriculum focuses on Salsa we do offer instruction in other Latin Dances such as the Dominican Merengue and Bachata as well as Cuban-Style Salsa and the NY-Style Mambo.

9.

What shoes should I wear?

It is mandatory to bring a change of shoes to the studio in order to participate. Ideally you should bring a pair of soft-soled shoes with either a leather or suede bottom or, alternatively, a slippery plastic (running shoes are not recommended). The shoe should also secure and support your foot properly (flip-flops and sandals are not recommended). If you shift your weight to the ball of the foot (with the heel off the ground) and can still pivot without strain, then the shoe should be adequate for Salsa.

10.

Are there make up classes for missed lesson?

There are no make up classes for missed lessons. If you miss a group lesson we recommend that you book a private lesson to get caught up on what you've missed. If you miss back-to-back group lessons it is absolutely necessary that you book a private lesson to get caught up on the third of the course that you have missed.
